PROXIMITY PLASTIC ID CARDS
Proximity plastic cards are normally 125 Hz frequency LF contactless cards and they have an antenna embedded in the card. However, the proximity cards are read-only cards and the information on these cards cannot be manipulated. They typically return a UID number to the software that reads the card and helps identify the card holder.
The proximity cards use the radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The applications of these cards include access control, identification and security. They are normally best for applications that do not have a high security need or where data does not have to be stored back on the card.
